At a special-called board meeting on Monday, July 8th, 2024, the Floyd County Board of Education appointed Larry Hammond as the interim superintendent beginning July 22nd, 2024. Mr. Hammond was previously a superintendent at the Rockcastle County school district, an interim superintendent in numerous counties, and has worked for the Kentucky Department of Education, among other positions. Mr. Hammond received the 2011 F.I. Dupree Outstanding Superintendent Award from the Kentucky School Boards Association.
