Superintendent Adkins congratulates our elementary, middle and high school students and teams on their successes in the district elementary league and the Eastern Kentucky Academic Conference (EKAC).
Superintendent Adkins comments, “Congratulations Prestonsburg Elementary, Adams Middle and Floyd Central High School on being our overall District Champs!” Adkins explained the basis of these rankings saying, “Our students have been competing in order to prepare for Governor's Cup competitions. For our elementary students, they compete virtually against teams in our district. Our middle and high school students compete in the Eastern Kentucky Academic Conference. We take the results from that league and rank our students by their performances over 4 academic meets. While we have some who maintain their spots, students can advance and change where they place with additional study and practice.”
Adkins concludes,”We’re very proud of these students and the hard work they put into being members of our academic teams. We’ve already had our middle schools compete in district Governor’s Cup competition and our high schools will compete virtually this Saturday. Our elementary students will not compete until February 20. While we can’t attend and watch the Quick Recall meets right now or have presentations of trophies in person, we’re still cheering on these students and wishing them the best of luck as they make their ways to state competition in March.”
