YOUNG AUTHORS' is a K-8 writing program in the Floyd County School District. This program allows students to express themselves in writing and/or artistically using technology and art. A school coordinator serves at each elementary and middle school, helping supply information throughout the school.
Students' work goes through the stages of the writing process; the judging experience and the author experience of recognition. The E books category allows students to produce a digital book that can be read electronically. In addition, Early Childhood (Pre-K) students may enter a class book.
Each year, the school district recognizes county and district winners and celebrates their successes.
The Young Authors' Program began in 1985-86 as an effort of the School-Community Partnership, headed by Dolores Smith, Freddie Goble, Carol Stumbo, Jean Rosenberg, and John Rosenberg.
District contact is: Pam Caudill
