Superintendent Danny Adkins announces that Annette Harris-Ward, District Health Coordinator, is now President of the Kentucky School Nurses Association.

Adkins comments, “We want to congratulate Annette on being elected to serve in this role. We’re not surprised, as we know how essential Annette has been to our district. Her nursing and management skills combine and make her a passionate leader who is always watching out for our students and our staff.”

The Kentucky School Nurses Association (KSNA) is an organization that strives to improve school nursing as a profession and to improve as individuals to better serve children. In addition to providing professional development for school nurses, they also have an ethical code of conduct and they represent school nurses in professional groups, governments, communities and the public.

Annette commented, “To be chosen to be a leader by your colleagues is exciting and I appreciate their trust in me. I’ve always tried to do the best job I could do in every role I have had and I’ll approach this office the same way.”

In reference to Annette’s qualifications, Adkins says, “This will be Annette’s third year as District Health Coordinator. In the past, she’s taught Allied Health classes at our Floyd County Area Technical Center before moving to become principal of the Belfry Area Technology Center. Annette has been serving as the Eastern Region delegate for KASN, a role she relinquished to accept the new role of president. Her knowledge, experience and determination to always grow and get better make her the perfect candidate for this role.”

Annette holds a nursing degree from the University of Kentucky. She obtained teaching and leadership certification through Morehead State University. Annette taught Allied Health classes for 12 years and was a Career and Technical Education principal for 12 years. She has three children, Courtney, Megan and Westin Harris. Annette and her husband Steve live in Allen, Kentucky.
