Superintendent Danny Adkins announces the results for the second annual Floyd County Schools Math Bee. Floyd Central High School hosted the Math Bee on November 19.

Students competed at their home schools in grades three through eight. The top student from each grade advanced to the county competition. Students took tests and then participated in a Quick Recall like competition. Quick Recall is a when students listen to questions from a moderator and try to be the first to push a buzzer and be called on to answer the question correctly. Both written assessment and Quick Recall results were used to determine first and second place per grade level.

In talking about the Math Bee, Superintendent Adkins says, “Our first Math Bee last year was a success and we knew then that we wanted this to continue. We are always looking for ways to help increase interest and engage more students in math.” Adkins continues, “We were excited to hand out trophies to our 1st and 2nd place winners and we loved seeing the kids push themselves mentally, much like an athlete does physically. We also want to thank Kolby Huff from South Floyd and Tina Williams from Allen for coordinating this event.  Please join us in congratulating our winners.”
