Superintendent Dr. Henry Webb is excited to announce that Kade Scott from Allen Central Middle placed 1st in Arts & Humanities at the middle school State Governor’s Cup yesterday in Louisville.
Dr. Webb comments. “The board team and I congratulate Kade on this historic achievement! We believe Kade is the only middle school student in Floyd County Schools to have placed first at the state level in Governor’s Cup competition. Kade has advanced to state competition for three consecutive years and placed 8th in 2016. We’re very proud of this smart young man and are thrilled to see him as a state champion. His hard work and dedication will only continue to open doors for him in the future.”
Kade also assessed in mathematics at the state level where he placed 32nd of the 116 students who took the state assessment.
Students assess first for Governor’s Cup at the district level with the top five students advancing to the regional level. The top five students from the region then advance to state competition.
Kade is an 8th grade member of the Allen Central Middle School Academic team coached by Dr. Brent Hutchinson and Ashley Bentley. He also competes with the Quick Recall team.
Kade is the son of Byron and Stephanie Scott of Langley, Kentucky.
