Superintendent Dr. Henry Webb congratulates Area Technology Center students who excelled at regional competition and are advancing to state competition.

SkillsUSA is a partnership organization serving teachers and students who are preparing for careers in technical skilled and service occupations. Competitions call for students to demonstrate occupational skills they have learned and students begin by competing at the school level to be eligible for regional competition.

Dr. Webb comments, “The board team and I are very proud of these KIDS and their accomplishments in this challenging career based competition. For example, in Web Design, Tanner and Kinsley were given a topic and a time limit and had to create and code a six page website with custom animations.” Webb continued, “And we want to thank our instructors Holli Tackett (Health Science), Justin Trout (HVAC), Dr. Jeff Shannon (Web Design) and Chad Kendrick (Welding) who enable these students to excel.”

“Our KIDS competed with students from Pike, Johnson, Magoffin and Martin counties in this regional event hosted by Big Sandy Community and Technical College and will now have the opportunity to show what they can do at state. Please join us in wishing them the best of luck this April in Louisville!” Webb commented.
